College Care Basket Initiative
Transitioning from high school to college is a major milestone, but for many inner-city high school graduates, the excitement of starting this new chapter is often met with financial challenges and uncertainty. Recognizing this, Pastor Kenneth L. Hollingshed and his church family have made it their mission to stand in the gap and provide meaningful support through their annual College Care Basket Initiative.
Each year, the church donates college care baskets filled with essential items to graduating seniors preparing for college. These baskets serve as a symbol of encouragement and love, reminding students that they have a community that believes in them and supports their journey. Each basket is thoughtfully packed with practical items to help students navigate college life, including:
- Hygiene products (toothpaste, deodorant, soap)
- Laundry essentials (detergent, dryer sheets)
- Snacks & non-perishable food items
- Inspirational notes & prayers for success
Through generous donations and sponsorships, students receive these necessities, helping them start their semester with confidence and peace of mind. As followers of Christ, we are called to uplift, support, and empower the next generation. This initiative is more than just a gift—it is an opportunity to put faith into action and sow seeds of hope and success into young lives. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” ~ Galatians 6:9-10
