My Candidacy for General Secretary of Evangelism and Missions
As a proud lifelong member of the Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church and a pastor with over 40 years of ministry experience, I am humbled and excited to announce my candidacy for the position of General Secretary of the Department of Evangelism and Missions. After much prayer and discernment, I firmly believe that God is calling me to serve in this vital role at such a pivotal time in the life of our beloved church. Over the past 30 years, my ministry has been deeply rooted in evangelism, missions, and community outreach. I have served faithfully as Evangelism Director at the District, Regional, and Episcopal levels within our great Zion. These experiences have shaped my vision, strengthened my resolve, and prepared me to lead in expanding the reach of the Gospel and growing the Kingdom.
A Ministry Built on Evangelism
For the past 27 years, I have been honored to serve on the evangelism team in the 8th Episcopal District. This journey included 27 years as the Dallas-Fort Worth/Northwest Texas Region Director of Evangelism and 16 years as the 8th Episcopal District Director of Evangelism. During this time, I have worked tirelessly to provide evangelism training that equips local congregations with tools to reach their communities effectively. From leading evangelism crusades in neighborhoods across Texas to encouraging leaders to embrace technology and social media for greater outreach, I have witnessed the transformative power of the Gospel. Through these efforts, many churches have increased their community engagement and achieved greater visibility in their mission to share the Good News. I am eager to continue this vital work and to empower more congregations to be beacons of hope in their communities.
Shaping Our Church Through Leadership
My leadership extends beyond local evangelism efforts. As Chair of the Evangelism and Spiritual Life Standing Committee for three consecutive General Conferences, I worked alongside fellow leaders to review resolutions and make impactful recommendations that have helped shape the direction of our church. As pastor of North Park CME Church in Dallas, TX, from 1998 to 2018, I founded the Hallelujah House Outreach Ministry Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing hope and healing to the city of Dallas. Our efforts were recognized with the President’s Volunteer Service Award from former President Barack Obama for our Jail/Prison Outreach Ministry, a testament to the power of faith in action. Since 2018, I have continued to serve as a leader in evangelism and missions at Morning Chapel CME—affectionately known as “The Rock Church”—in downtown Fort Worth, TX. Under the leadership of Senior Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick, I have traveled extensively across the country and the Jamaica Region Annual Conference, preaching, teaching, and equipping congregations to thrive in their evangelistic missions.
My Vision for Evangelism and Missions
My vision for the Department of Evangelism and Missions is inspired by the Great Commission: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19-20). If elected, I will focus on five key areas:
- Strategic Evangelism for Inner-City and Rural Churches
I will provide tools, resources, and training to empower churches in inner-city and rural areas to engage their communities and strengthen their congregations. - Innovative Outreach Strategies
I will advocate for the use of technology, social media, and creative outreach initiatives to reach new audiences, particularly youth and young adults, while staying true to the Gospel message. - Collaborative Leadership
I will work collaboratively with the College of Bishops, pastors, and lay leaders to create evangelism strategies that are impactful and transformative. - Training and Development
I will develop resources and programs to equip evangelism teams and lay leaders with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual guidance needed to lead others to Christ. - Community Engagement
I will support congregations in building partnerships and organizing service projects that address community needs while expanding their witness.
A Bold Vision for a New Era
With integrity, transparency, and a passion for disciple-making, I am committed to helping our church embrace a bold new vision for evangelism and missions. Together, we can bring the love of Christ to communities around the world, inspiring spiritual growth and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I humbly ask for your prayers, support, and partnership as we journey forward in this exciting chapter for our church. Together, we can answer the call to evangelism and missions with faith, passion, and purpose.
Let us make bold moves for the Kingdom!
